How I coach

You already have more
of the answers than
you think.

I don't believe coaching is about someone telling you how to live your life, handing you a formula or turning you into a different version of yourself. It's about creating the space to think properly: to step outside the noise, get curious, notice patterns, challenge assumptions, explore possibilities, work out what matters now and decide what you want to do with it.

You bring your experience, instincts and answers. I bring curiosity, questions, challenge, perspective and accountability. We work out what comes next.

Real life is part of the work

Thinking differently can be powerful. Doing something differently is where change begins to take shape. You might leave with something to notice, a conversation to have, a question to sit with, a behaviour to experiment with or a different approach to try. Then we see what happened. Not success or failure. Information. Learn. Adapt. Move again.

  • You're not here to be fixed.
  • Curiosity before judgement.
  • Real life is part of the work.
  • Movement, not perfection.

Coaching can be

  • Space to think
  • A different perspective
  • Challenge without judgement
  • A way to understand patterns
  • A place to explore possibilities
  • An investment in yourself
  • Support turning thinking into action
  • Accountability
  • Somewhere you don't need to have everything figured out

Coaching isn't

  • Someone telling you what to do
  • A formula for your life
  • Being fixed
  • Motivational cheerleading
  • Advice dressed up as coaching
  • Therapy
  • A promise that change will always be easy

Human first

We all arrive with experiences that shape how we respond to change, uncertainty, pressure and challenge. My approach is trauma-informed: collaborative, respectful and conscious of your autonomy. You decide what we explore, how far we go and what you're ready for. Coaching does not diagnose or treat trauma or mental-health conditions and isn't a substitute for therapy or appropriate medical or psychological support.

The Split Step approach

Balanced.
Alert.
Ready to move.

In racket sports, a split step isn't the move itself. It puts you in the best position to respond — balanced, alert and ready to move in whichever direction you need to. That's how I think about coaching. You don't have to arrive knowing the answer or follow a predetermined route. We create space to understand where you are, explore what is changing, challenge what is getting in the way, open up possibilities and help you make your next move.

Enough structure to create momentum. Enough flexibility to follow where it takes us.
